I would need something like "word of today" or a generator which generates random letters my submitters must type in so that I can get rid of link spammers.

Install Gossamer Community- this is built in to the registration process.

Hmm.. I would like a free solution. How do I make a simple "confirm your submission" after they have typed in all info and submitted? It would be a screen after the submit screen.

Your "free" solution is to install community.

For a Links SQL solution, install the random image mod.

Without an image, the spammers will simply read the page, and type in the characters. That's why everything is an image.
