I have not really looked at the way it works but I have seen a rating of 4.83 today. I think all rates are multiplied with the number of rates, e.g. one new rating is added (1) and the total is divided with the number of ratings+1. If the ratings are updated very often it might happen that for a thounsand times users rate a link with 1 and every rate is updated instantly. So we have

(4.83 * x + 1) / (x + 1) = 4.825 ( I guess 4.825 will remain 4.83)

which results in x = 765

I don´t know if this is how LinsSQL behaves and I don´t see a problem, just think it is intersting that in this case a thousands of ratings of 1 have no results on 765 ratings.
