is there any way to have links expire without enabling payments?

seems like expired date only works if payments is enabled. i know i can create a new column in the links table and just use that instead, but then i have the problem of purging expired links and also notifying links that are about to expire.

is there any way around this?

AFAIK, Expire_Links is the only way to do this if you have payments disabled;

Not quite as fancy as GT's system, but it works (it used to be the only solution, prior to GT bringing out the built in expiration feature).

No you can't. Perhaps, you could try use Manual payments as a form of payment.
