compress option

Hi,

can anyone tell me what the compress option actually does.

I would like my html view to be more structured so I figure with compress on this is why it all seems to be condensed.

Is this actually what it does, don't want to blow anything up by turning it off.

Yes, compress is condensing the html code.
You can safely turn it out.

"Compress" just strips out newlines from the output. This makes the pages smaller, and also harder for people to copy.

However, if you ever need to track a problem down, then its not so much fun, as all of the code is squished up =)

The main reason for turning compression off though, is when sending emails. GT::Template doesn't compress automatically, which is a bonus when reading email templates, and sending them out. Otherwise, you get gargaged emails :D
