Over the last couple of days I seem to be getting upwards of 100 submissions a day from spammers who are targetting two categories in my directory.

I have commented out the add a link, but they still come through.

What do others do to stop this. They seem to have targetted two categories.

Is there a way to totally disabled submit a site for the short term while I assess what to do for future.

You could change the permissions of add.cgi to not allow it to execute (eg. chmod 644 in unix). Or just rename it to something else temporarily.
