Ok, this should be cleaned up -- standardized.
When a search term is <3 characters, a SEARCH_NOLINKS error is being returned, when really a "Too Short" error should be returned.
When the same search term is used with the "Field" searches, it succeeds.
ie: "aa" will generate a SEARCH_NOLINKS error in the general search, but will succeed (or fail) on a column-only search.
Confusing. (the "short" term is being screend out, it's not really "failing").
