I have noticed that when adding a Column to the Links table, the
dropdown menu for 'Column Type' displays:
INT
CHAR
TEXT
DATE
ENUM

When editing an existing column, i.e 'Title' the dropdown displays:
VARCHAR
INT
CHAR
TEXT
DATE
ENUM

Why don't I have VARCHAR when adding a column?

Because nobody got around to adding it :) I just added it into the database editor and should be available in the next release.
