Hey, from today you can get MaxDB from mysql open source.

1) Does anyone know if links support MaxDB?

2) if so would there be any improvements to performance over using mysql?

AFAIK, LSQL doesn't support MaxDB. The main ones it does support are: MySQL, PostGreSQL and MSSQL.
