Hi,

I have been searching the forum with no luck on finding a way to make specific categories limited access for adding new links.

What I would like to do is not have these limited access categories even show up in the selection list of a person wanting to add a link that is not an admin or editor. But I want the categories open to all for browsing and use.


Edit: I should also mention that it needs to work with both static and dynamic applications.


Any ideas?

Have a look at the method I've posted in this thread:

It should work in both static and dynamic mode and allows you to specify which categories you want 'on' and 'off' for submissions.

It still displays the 'off' categories to visitors and shows them in the sub-category list, but it doesn't display the 'add a site' link so it effectively blocks submissions for that category.

It also doesn't effect the category browser so 'off' categories will still be available for both editors and admin.

That is a very cool option. It allows flow control for sure.

The issue that I have is that I have limited the ADD and MODIFY links to a members area of the site, not allowing non-members access at all.

So while the option you offered is VERY cool, it is based on the front end of the ADD system rather than the back end *which is where my problem lies*.

I will keep this in mind for other applications though. I really like it.
