I want to be able to re-write some sections of Links SQL but dont know where to begin.

I know this is a perl script and there are alot of perl books out there

Is there any specific books or sites anyone can recommend as a learning guide ?

I would recommened reading some of the tutorials available on the Net (most are free)...thats where I started. Then get a book, something like "Programming Perl" by O'Reilley. Then write a few smaller scripts. You need to know quite a bit before you start playing with Links SQL, as its a complex piece of work Also, rather than editing the hard coding, why not use Plugins and Globals? At least that way, its a hell of a lot harder to screw up the core code
