Import Problem - New LinkID's

Import Problem - New LinkID's
Alex,

I thought the import was supposed to preserve the LinkID and CatID of the old links?

In the beta, I think it did.

I noticed in the past 2 imports, and the import I just did with Beta4, that the links are all assigned new ID's.

This will screw up some sites hard-linking to certain links, and cross linking between links, etc.

Remember, the LinkID was supposed to be the _unique_ identifier of a link, and was not supposed to change.

See in nph-import.cgi

In Reply To:
--straight-import
(This option can only be used with --clear-tables).
Makes the import not recalculate Category/Link ID numbers. That is, a
link with ID number 12 in the source will be inserted into the Links
SQL 2 database with an ID number of 12. Note that this can leave a
fairly large gap in the Links ID fields depending on the usage of the
source import. This option does nothing with --backup and --restore
Cheers,

Alex
