Has there ever been an attempt to create a portal like yahoo, and have the search results passed to separate local links directories?

I was working on a similar in concept. I would be interested in hearing from local directory owners who would be open to sharing traffic with a nexus site from which all search can take place.

I didn't see any discussions in the forum about it, if there has been, please point me to it.

I posted something not quite the same, and potentially under the name "NexusLinks.com"

It was more for updating/maintaining the directory, not passing searches.
