Going from MS-SQL to MySQL - How?!?!
Hello All,

I'm currently running Links2.1.0 quite happily on MS-SQL2000, but I would like to import all of these tables into the MySQL database that I'm running, which powers the rest of my site (so I've only got one database, and can eventually from Windows to Linux environment).

But how do I do this? Does anyone have some step-by-step instructions? I'm running SQL Enterprise manager for the MS-SQL, and DBTools for the MySQL database.

Any thoughts?

Many thanks,

Ross

Hi,

If you are on a dedicated server, I would install MyODBC from MySQL.com site and then use the Import/Export wizard to export to an ODBC data source. Not sure if there is an easier way..

Cheers,

Alex

Hi Alex,

Yup, running a dedicated server.

So - should export all from SQL Enterprise manager to my existing MySQL database (running through ODBC) - will this create all the new tables? That shouldn't be a problem doing that.

Then what settings do I need to change within LinksSQL?

Cheers,

Ross
