Error: Wide character in subroutine entry at ./install.cgi line 5168

I get the above error when trying to upgrade from LinksSQL 2.1.2 to 2.2

Any advice would be appreciated.

Since posting the above I found this on another forum:

"Solution: change your LANG environment variable to en_US (or en_GB, or whatever) and run the script again. The issue is Red Hat's bizarro default of en_XX.utf8 , which several things I've read suggest is far from working completely properly."

Yes, that worked.

It was Redhat 9's default language environment variable that was causing the problem.

export LANG=en_US

did the trick - after that the script ran through without problem.
