Detailed Questions
1) Since all detailed pages are located in the directory Detailed, is there a physical limit to the number of pages or did I miss a thread on how to create multiple Detailed directories?

As example:
http://www.pressbox.co.uk/Detailed/

It will fills up quickly with an active site

2) I notice that old pages remain in Detailed directory, athough removed from the database. Is there a setting option on this or cron feature. Suggestions on this?

Thanks
John

Hi

1. the only limit is your storage space... BTW, you can build any number of additional detailed pages, with my PageBuilder plugin, and you can have them created wherever you want, e.g. in the directory of the category they are in.

2. a simple solution would be to delete all the pages in /Detailed/ directory, and then do a complete rebuild.

Hi,

So what you are saying is that there can be unlimited number of html pages in a directory in Unix (provided you have the disk space)?

Would things not slow down if you had say 1,000,000 detailed pages in one folder?

I don't know what the limit to the number of files in a directory is in Unix. I am just assuming that you will run out of hd space before that limit will be reached.

I may be writing a simple free plugin that will do this... It will go through the Detailed directory, remove all the files that exist, but don't end in the set extensions (i.e remove all .html files when its set to build .shtml), and then all the remaining files it will go through the directory, and see if the ID number exists Smile

Just an idea...but from what I have heard, it would be appreciated. I may also do a similar thing for category pages....as a lot of people get annoyed with them being left as orphan pages Wink

is there a way to build detailed pages under the category folder with timestamp as filename?

Ex: Home>Reference
The detailed pages for links under reference would be in /home/reference folder and named 20023011163400.html
