Hello, since we have done the dmoz import there has obviously been a lot more content added to dmoz. is there any way of updating just the new content without having to import the whole database beacuse that can take days!

I'm afraid it needs to go through the whole database before it will import new links. Make sure you add --nhp-update in the query though, as that will make sure it skips existing links, and only adds new ones...
