Is there a way to exclude selected categories and their sub categories from being searched? or indexed?
Lets say links in category Education should not be searched or included in the search results.

Not sure but i quess u can make a new field called <willbeuseinsearch> make it yes/no. They add the field in the search part as in ?willbeuseinsearch=yes. Sorry don't know the excact code but u will get the idea i hope. Then change the field <willbeuseinsearch> in all records to yes or no.

Maybe there is a easier way like excluding a cat in the search option something like search.cgi?excludecatid=1000...

This idae will work on few categories but what I have is a main category with all its children (about 100 ).. this solution will not be practical on the long run.
