Category-specific templates
In Browse --> CategoryName --> Edit

there is a field called 'Category Template'. I know the older versions of Links SQL couldn't handle different templates for each category without modification. I just bought the new version and I just need to know what format the entry has to be in.

For example if I want CategoryA to be built using one set of templates and CategoryB to be built using another set of templates how do I indicate that in the 'Category Template' field and where do I store the different templates?

Thanks.

Hi,

Simply enter the name of the template set. Ex. if you have template set called 'av' then you would just enter av in the Template field in the category you want to use that particular template in.

I've tried that... still not working - the default template set remains. Any idea what could be wrong?

The category template field is a template name, not a set name, so for example you'd enter:

category2.html

In my experience you can use both - if you use category2.html then it only applies to the category template if you use the template name ex. av then it applies to detailed pages as well as all templates (ie header, footer etc) from the second template set

Looking at the code, you need to define the category.html template, and NOT the template set.

Therefore, Pauls answer would be correct Smile

that makes sense... so i created a category2.html, however, when I tried changing the template file to category2.html i got an error message:

An error has occurred.

Unable to modify category:
+ The record you are attempting to modify has changed since you last accessed it.

(I've tried reparing the tables to no avail...)

Any ideas?
