Can I build the categories in their own subdomains???
Hi Everybody,

I am on a dedicated cobalt-server and I can make unlimited subdomains.
What I want is to build subdirectories within their own subdomains.

Ex:
I have a website www.animals.com and within that domain I create 2 subdomains like
cat.animals.com and dog.animals.com

The cobalt (unix) file-structure is:
for www.animals.com - /home/sites/site1/
for cat.animals.com - /home/sites/site2/
for dog.animals.com - /home/sites/site3/

Within links-sql I make 2 categories: "cats en dogs". What I want is when I build
that the categorie cats must be build in /home/sites/site2/ (cat.animals.com) and
categories dogs in /home/sites/site3/ (dog.animals.com)

(of course everything in static mode)

I hope someone can help!

Thanks,
Ron

You can use Mod-Rewrite to accomplish that!

Thanks Xpert,

But .... how?

And is it a problem to get it "real physical" done?

Hi,

What you describe above would require separate links licenses, to run on different domains. Links is not set up internally to do that.

What was suggested, was that if someone types in "cats.yourdomain.com" it would be rewritten to yourdomain.com/links/pages/cats or wherever your root category was being built.

You run one Links site, and each main subcategory is turned into a subdomain for ease of access.

To run a category "real physical" on a different domain requires different links installs.
