3 columns of links on main page, instead of the default 2.

Is this possible? I searched and searched, I found threads that looked promising, but the code examples failed to say what file to edit, where in the file to edit... I am really green to this stuff I need details if I have to hack the code... Sorry just dense I guess.

I need a complete idiot's solution to this problem.

The option in the build > setup for catagories only changed it on the other pages, not the main page.

I have a suggestion. A option on the admin page to change columns on the main page. It obviously creates a table too, so a quick easy option to change the table attribs of this would work as well.

I am totally amazed that this is not already there because this seems like such a simple, basic need... Perhaps I am simply not seeing it, may be a case of "if it were a snake it would have bit me?".
