Any attempt by a user to add a link a link gets an internal server error. The error is actually

Attempt to free unreferenced scalar at /home/sites/site1/web/cgi-bin/bclinks/cgi/admin/GT/Plugins.pm line 84.

This occurs only if db_gen_category_list is set to no. With it set on add works. This is on an unmodified 2.0.4 install. I have seen othe posts about this problem but no resolution. Has anyone found a fix for this?? Setting db_gen_category_list on is not an option for me with 3900+ categories.
