This is likely a stupid question, but how do I go about making my site dynamic? Is it a matter of calling my categories and other pages using page.cgi or is there a simple selection I can make within the admin panel? I am wondering in particular how the homepage can be dynamic by default (perhaps it can't) without calling domain.com/page.cgi.

In admin, go to

Setup
Build Options
scroll down about 2/3 and choose "Yes" to "dynamic_pages".

Then it's up to you how to get your home page to point to page.cgi. You can use redirects, rewrite rules, etc.
