Re: [SandraR] Calendar of events (moved topic) In reply to
I was thinking about it a little more and I think it can be done. I'll have to experiment a little and see what I can come up with.

the problem isn't just 'is this Friday?', because I can do that using date_transform(), but more importantly, "is this the *third* Friday?". And things can get more complex from there.

I'm going to give it try.

[edit]
I just made this quick form:
http://www.perlmad.net/form.html

Any suggestions/comments?

Thanks. But validation and programming in the various combinations is going to be a pain in the arse. Pirate

I think the birthday thing with GForum... IMO, the best way to tackle that is to do the plugin with Community instead (so it can be used with Links/GMail/GForum). I don't have any experience with Community though.

Come to think of it, THIS plugin would really be better off written for Community, but using Links as the base makes it the easiest to work with.

Using Links as the base, then perhaps someone with community experience can help to make it community compatible?

I am eager to see it work - can't help myself --- love --- new plug-in toys :D

I'm sending you a PM shortly with a demonstration of some of the code.

It's turning out to not be nearly as complicated as I previously thought. I do wish GT::Date had more date calculation functions (ie, like what is found in Date::Calc, DateTime::Event::Recurrance, etc.) to make things a bit easier.

A thought...

What if you want to have more than one calendar of events?

Say you want one calendar under the category: Business and another calendar of events located within schools.

Will this be a possible option?

I'm watching this one. This is exactly what I need to upgrade a current project. Anything I can do (with my limited abilities) to assist and get this one ready to go... please let me know...

no, haven't forgot ;-) I'm still here, but I'm focusing on my PingServices plugin at the moment. I promised Jag I'd look into an issue he had with it and I've been putting it off (he's been running some of my plugins as a work in progress), so I really need to work on finishing that up first.
