Is there a Plugin to Import 'Yahoo Style Subcategories (@)' Mod from Links2 to GLinks?
Hello,
Just noted during importing from Links2 to GLinks 3.0.x the import script missing the "Yahoo Style Subcategories (@) explained by Jerry (wedgetz) in the following link:
http://www.gossamer-threads.com/...m/?post=37476#p37476
I am trying to import all my data from Links2 to GLinks but having the following issue listed in following thread which will require a change to the import script/Glinks code to import and handle the 'Pointer Categories' (categories that do not exist but they point to other existing categories)?

http://www.gossamer-threads.com/.../?page=unread#unread

Thank you
Mark

Mmm, I don't think there is anything that does that (not really used the related categories stuff in Links2 before, so not really sure how it works)

Hi Andy,
This is not the "Related Stuff" in Links2; rather, it is a mod that allows the admin to create a pointing categories to point to other categories (same as in yahoo directory where you have categories ending with @ are pointing their corresponding real categories).
The related categories are different, please see: http://www.allnewspapers.com/Middle_East/Arab_World/ where you can see all countries (such as: Tunisia category) are located in different directories (not /Middle_East/Arab_World/Tunisia rather then the actual category is located in /African_Media/Tunisia).
And in "Related Categories" you see are different categories put seprate from the listed countries.
(note I am using foregin characters so the @ is not visiable).

Therefore, can Jerry's mod be implemented in LinksSQL so I keep the same feature after import... because when I imported from Links2 to LinksSQL, all pointing categories where really created rather then just pointing: see example:
http://www.allnewspapers.com/...rld%2Findex.html;d=1

Thanks much in adavance
Mark

Mmm, that would probably require editing in the import script (or some kinda plugin written, which would do the updating after the data has been imported, by comparing the Links2 DB, and then adding the category relations to the CatRelations table in GLinks. Not sure I'll have time to do that though, as would mean setitng up a copy of links 2 + the mod, and then trying to figure out how to do it :( (trying to get a bit of free time over Xmas =))

Cheers
