I have installed the forum software and am playing with it. However, I could not get the icons showing up properly. I did 'chmod 777 to all directories and files for the images directory but they still don't show up.

Do you know why?

When you day they don't show up do you mean you get dead images?

Yes, the images don't show up at all.

Say for example, the main index icon at the top left hand corner of the forum page cannot be displayed at all (dead images). I checked the properties and it says:
http://somehost/cgi-bin/forum/images/home.gif

Whereas 01) I checked the linux box and the path is correct and the image files are there 02) I checked the setup in forum and the path is also correct.

What should I do?

I have to manually add an alias entry into httpd.conf of Apache in order that the images will show up.

I thought the install process is going to do it.

Anyway....

The reason they aren't showing is because you extracted them into your cgi-bin...your cgi-bin is for cgi scripts...you should put the images in your html directory.
