daylight saving time

daylight saving time
I just noticed that my time display (as a user) is one hour off, probably because of daylight savings time.

Wouldn't it be nice if the forum handled daylight savings time automatically?

Yeah I noticed this the other day too - I had to manually increase my offset from 8 to 9 hours.

Hold on, isn't this a server issue?

When I put my offset to 8hrs it tells me the current time is 4.42 (it's 5.42). That time is generated using time() or something similar I expect, which uses the systems local time, so if the system had corrected itself then it would show the right time?

Ah, here you get into the Europe vs. North America thing again - Daylight Savings time doesn't start here until this weekend - at which point you'll probably have to set your +9 back to +8.

Getting a really nice time handling module that completely understands timezones is something I want for then next major version(s), but I don't know yet how much work it would be, or how long it would take. Then, all you'd do is select your timezone and never worry about adding or subtracting offsets.
