How to Copy Threads?

How to Copy Threads?
How do you COPY a thread?

It's very easy to MOVE a thread, but I find myself needing to COPY a thread to a 2nd forum.
COPY meaning leaving the original thread intact, not just a pointer.
Yes, the info and posts will then be in two locations.

Is there any way of doing this?

This is to digest selected posts that are interesting.

There currently is no such ability, but I've added it to my list for future consideration.

Thank you for your reply.

Presently, is there a way in SQL to copy a whole thread?

A long thread - one with 25-100 replies - is near impossible to duplicate.

Not easily; in addition to the entries in the post table, there are also relevent entries in the PostAttachment table, Post_tree, and values in the Forum table that are affected. Additionally, a common feature of thread duplication is that the threads remaing somehow "attached" - that is, if you post to one thread, the other thread gets updated as well. There are various ways to do this, but none are a quick fix.

Whew.

In this case, I'm trying to "archive" interesting threads, so in this case, the duplicated thread does not have to be "linked".

It can even be "locked".

Thanks! Please work on that. If GF had a archive/featuring capability, it would be a selling point.

The information on active forums gets "buried" so easily and quickly.
This is one way of increasing value of the site to the surfer.

Yay! I'd love to be able to have a thread about Microsoft security problems to show up in both the Microsoft and the security forums. Right now, I'm sorta doing it by having some modified "moved thread" text.
