A few of my users have asked if I'd enable HTML tags.

Is there a downside to doing it?

Do I need to add these tags to the Markup section?

What would I add for the "embed" tag?

You really don't want to do this unless everyone on the forum is trusted. Allowing people to post in HTML allows them to embed javascript and such in their posts. This can then allow malicious users to hijack cookies of other users who view their malicious posts.

I'm guessing your users want to embed things like Flash into their signatures and such. I'm not in the office so I don't have access to a Gossamer Forum setup, but I believe all you need to do is add a new tag to the tags list, which replaces it with the appropriate html. You'll have to see the manual on how to do this.
