It may be a nice solution to have the solution, so the original poster could close a solved thread on a support like forum. (I know, moderator can do this, too).

1) Could it be solved by simply adding <%if ...%> tags into the templates or it seems more like a plugin task?

2) Also, should we add 1 more column to the table of forum properties to make the feature available as a per forum basis?

Hi,

It is definately a good idea. Unfortunately it isn't solved in the templates, as a user won't be allowed to close a thread even if they pass in the proper arguments. We've added it to the feature list.

Mainly I would need this feature as community supporter, to ignore spending time opening those threads which was solved already...
