Can the scripts and mySQL run on different server
My question is whether we can run script on one server and have another box to serve mySQL. How to do it.

Yes, this is possible. Once MySQL has been configured on the other server, either install Gossamer Forum, or go to the Setup -> SQL menu. When you are asked for database information, simply use the hostname/database/username/password of the other server.
