Does the "Days" fields specify how many days after the first message is sent that the message should be sent or does it specify how many days after the previous message is sent that the message should be sent?

It specifies how many days after the previous message is sent that the message should be sent. So if message two went out on May 21, and message three had a Send Days of 3, then message 3 would go out on May 24th.
