I've been trying to weigh up a couple of different mechanisms for hosting a database online.
One important criteria is the need to search for all records between 2 values, ie every day between 100 and 140. Is it possible to search for several criteria on a given field ie (day > 100 and day <=140)?

Yes it is possible to do range searches. I believe in the Resource Center (menu above) there is a mod written for this. If not, you can visit the FAQ noted below and check under Searching for various thread references.
