I've use the build_select_field_from_db sub on lot's in many templates - with great success - but I'm wondering if anyone has tinkered with it to add some added functionality. What I would like to do is have a select box created from the DB that adjusts options based on a string or value existing within the db field. For example, I have a field that contains the titles of various courses - some courses are for resident instruction, some are for on-line, and some are for export to other organizations. Each of these "categories" are defined by an acronym, contained within parens, immediately following the course title.
Question - how can one adjust "build_select_field_from_db" to accomodate the display of those field entries meeting certain characteristics - like build a selection box that displays only course titles that have the acronym "MTT" within the field?
