Has anyone got a working version of the multiple sort mod as posted at http://gossamer-threads.com/...p;ubb=001080:Forum12

I have added the code and it has affected the search but will not sort across more than one field, giving a 500 server error. I have worked all down the forum posts and applied previous info.

I am using the long / short mod and have added a subhead according to field values so that the result is a list of countries with continents as headings:

Africa
Ghana
Kenya

Asia
Sri Lanka

Where I want to alphabeticise the continent and then the country. thanks.

I haven't used that mod myself, but am wondering if you have access to your server's error log, or whether turning debugging on gives you any clues as to where the error might be.

There is a snippet of code in the FAQ under troubleshooting that I add to all my files to help me track errors. It's called "Debugging - How To Obtain Useful Error Messages".

This may help to pinpoint where the error is occuring. Be sure you have removed the space between the 2 pipes symbols with the code your using. There are 2 places to check for the pipes. It looks like the code provided is using | | instead of 2 pipe symbols.

I looked at the error logs and found a *Premature end of script headers* error - although I don't know what that is!

I have now got it working having tracked down the second of the | | which I had not previously found.

Thank you, it just shows that you have to look really closely at the coding, I looked and looked and only found it as I was pasting it in this window to ask you if you could see anything I had missed!

Glad you got it working :)

Sometimes it just takes reading the directions or related threads a few times and rechecking. An extra set of eyes comes in handy also. The great feature of this forum others helping to get things working :)
