This has possibly been asked before however having spent some time searching I am looking to allow the dbman admin via the admin page to add categories.

AFAIK... It's really not possible to do it via admin page (at least not without some hacking) unless you were running the relational mod and using the 2nd db for categories.

My suggestion would be to use the relational mod if changing categories is going to be a major part of your script.
