I am planning to build a site with a database back-end. Has any one tried WebData, and if so, could you provide some info about how it compares to DBMan? WebData costs $199. Thanks!
Where is WebData located?

Well, comparing the two database programs...
PROS - WebData
1) WebData is a nice program for Perl novices with the installer feature.
2) And/Or searching is nice since DBMAN does not offer this feature.
3) File uploading out of the box is a nice feature as well.
4) Different language outputs out of the box is also very nice.
5) Customization features are really nice.
6) Future feature of MS Access Integration is very nice.
CONS-WebData
1) $199.00 (However, in terms of the time it takes to customize DBMAN to include features of WebData would be a lot and the cost of WebData may not be that too steep.)
2) Clunky support bulletin board.
PROS - DBMAN
1) Great support forum.
2) Web Administration.
3) Shareware.
CONS - DBMAN
1) Lacks And/Or searching.
2) Difficult to add-on mods for most novice programmers.
3) Lacks a lot features that WebData offers.
Hope this helps.

I've Used Webdata for several sites ( before I started using DBMan ). I like it, and most of all, my users like it. I've used it to setup Car Dealerships and Real-Estate web sites. Its almost TOO easy to setup. But it doesn't have quite the flexibility that DBMan has. It is pretty easy to customize graphically and for a non perl programmer is a nice program.
Now that I've used DBMan, I don't want to use anything else. DBMan offers a new level of control over the code because of the way its built. The html.pl file lets you do just about limitless mods to make dbman do whatever you want. I like both programs, but I LOVE DBMAN ;)
