Hi,

It's definitely a possibility. If you need it quickly, we are available for custom work to do any integration needed (for instance we've integrated instant messenging via Jabber into Community for one of our clients). Send an email to info at gossamer-threads.com if you are interested in getting custom work done.

Cheers,

Alex

GT has dropped support for most PHP products, since their internal engines running under mod_perl are actually in many cases better -- and more secure. PHP has security issues going back to the server level.

I've been working on a calendar for events/scheduling (not projects, or groupware) for awhile. It's not ready for prime time yet, but I've also been thinking about maybe porting one of the open source projects, but the problem is that the open source licenses sort of conflict with the commercial licenses for development, since most ports will contain proprietary GT code. I've tried very hard to *not* use any existing programs, for that reason -- only CPAN modules tha can be loaded into perl for Date and calendar support. There are some good (and getting better) perl versions out there, some use MySQL.

Hi.

http://www.cyberweavers.com had a mod_perl compatible, WAP supported Mysql DB based calendar script. The domain does not resolve anymore now. The project is also listed at sourceforge however at following url:

http://sourceforge.net/projects/cybercalendar/

Perhaps this could be a perfect companion to GT products.

The problem is reconciling the GNU license with the commercial nature of Links.

This seems a dead project on sourceforge.net too. They have 1.8.1 as the latest version available. I have version 1.8.2 downloaded long back from the cyberweavers site which no more exists now.

Barring the templates (which definitely need more attention) the other things look good as far as compatibility with GT products is concerned with modifications of course.

True, the person/company modifiying the code is free to charge for the same but at the same time would have to grant a similar right to the person who buys the modified code. Perhaps that's not acceptable to person/company modifying the code.

The project seems to have lost it's color on sourceforge after September 2001.

The problem is that all the database/template calls, and such would be GT code, and as such could not be distributed free.

I don't know how hard it would be to modify the code (I only have the 1.8.1 version). I'm not sure with the code I have now, it would be worth the effort, since with the GT interfaces, and the modules from CPAN, it's really all just tying it up into a wrapper and putting an interface on it. All the *real* code has been written.

Actually the project is not dead at all and seems very promising in its features...
Just look at their Freshmeat page. Was updated three months ago http://freshmeat.net/projects/webcalendar/

They also posted the new xhtml interface on http://www.k5n.us/webcalendar.php

Oh is it the same software that i made a note of. The one that i posted is mod_perl compatible one and the links posted by you are more of php based webcalendar. Sorry if i am missing the necessary link between the two :/

Thanks
