Gossamer Threads Crash?
It seems like Gossamer Threads was biten by Murphy's Law. Many posts have had a number of replies deleted and also seems like many posts were deleted as well.

Any info?

Looked like it was an SQL server crash yesterday.

I've been having real trouble since yesterday with MySQL errors and wrong URLs being sent by email when someone replies to a post.

Thank you all for replying...just wanted to make sure it wasn't me or anything...I did notice it was a MySQL crash when I tried accessing the "archived" Threads via pugdog's LINKS SQL FAQ web site and also clicking on links in the Resources section.

Anyway...thanks again. I appreciate you taking the time to confirm the problem.

I have been thinking about this issue for awhile.

Maybe when the spider comes out, I'll be able to store a local copy of the threads, as well as the link to the "current" thread. I know I have email archives of all the posts, but that would be a bear to wade through if they can't be reinstated!!

The original incarnation of the spider pulled the whole page into a database field. If the spider accepted plugins, then changing _how_ the record was stored in the database field (ie: escaped, but not parsed out) then the record could be displayed in a new window en-toto.

For a reference site, that has great advantages.

I was getting Internal Server errors over the weekend when trying to access the forum.

Could this be related?

Hi,

Yes, we had some hardware problems and MySQL died. Everything should be back up and running normally now. Always happens when I go away. =)

Cheers,

Alex
