Does anyone knows how to make this ?

I have a file with 1 word 5 letters on each line and want to have a 'simple' search program like this.

File looks like this:
files
sites
floor

The search function i want is this:

searchbox: f***r where * is any character (excatly i want space as any character but * is better to show you know what i mean :))

So after i selected the searchbutton it will display as result: floor

Hope you get help my with this simple looking program ?
