I am trying to install a bulletin board script. It is VBS. The script has you install a install.cgi script. That is then executed from telnet. In the setup process it will ask for the username of the web address. Then it responds with UID = 786
It ask for who own the scripts Then responds with GID = 766 When the setup is all finished it writes a bunch of scripts and folders to the drive. My problem is that the permissions are all set for the owner and the group and not for any user access. I tried to manually set permissions, but as soon as pages are regenerated they are back to the old permissions. I am pretty sure the problem lies in my answers to the UID GID and username questions. If I use any other username it sends an error saying it is not in the password file. When I use the same username I log in with it accepts it, but sets permissions funny. Any ideas to help a newbie?
