Terabyte - raq servers
 Hi Everyone,

Hope you all had a good new year and are refreshed :)

I'm wanting to switch to Terabyte's 400MB plan - http://tera-byte.com/hosting.html but it doesn't have any stats program on it. I emailed Tera-byte asked why and they gave me these two respones:

Quote:
For the RaQ sites (like Plan 4R), we don't provide any web-based file transfers or web-based stats programs. However, if you want to search for
some on the Internet and if you're up to installing one yourself, I'd venture a guess that there would be some programs available. I can't name any
that I know our customers are using successfully, unfortunately.

and

Quote:
As steve had indicated, history has shown stats packages for the raq servers to be unreliable at best (usually due to the actual server stat collection, which is flawed)

Is this true? Is there any good free stats package out there I could use? I want to be able to check how my hits, etc are going!

Thanks for any assistance given

P.S - good to see us kiwis giving you poms a good old hiding in the cricket Cool

I have to agree with them. Webalizer skips stats for many days at a time on raqs for no apparent reason, although Im not sure if it does that on other servers too.

Sounds fishy to me. Webalizer/Analog and other stats programs just run off Apache's log files which are the same everywhere.

As long as you have access to the logfile, you can get a stats program working. Easiest (in terms of techical knowledge required), is to just get Webtrends (http://www.webtrends.com/) and it can auto download your log file and run a stats report on it.

Cheers,

Alex

If you don't mind using a PHP include() tag in your files, then you could use this proggy at http://www.ezboo.com/. Its a wicked program. Only problem is that obviously you need to be able to parse the PHP codes, so if you are not using PHP pages then its not really an option.

Hope that helps a bit.
