InterNIC
A little over a month ago I have registered a new domain with HyperMart.net. When I registered HyperMart told me, that InterNIC will contact me within 3 days, but I never heard anything not from InterNIC not from HyperMart. I wrote two emails to InterNIC and Network Solutions, but nobody ever replied to me. When I check if the domain is available (using whois), it says that the domain is not available; so I guess it is in registration process. I never received a bill for $70 either.
Now, I don't know what to do. Should I try to register another domain, or wait untill whatever happens. ... or just shoot myself?

Anybody, please tell me what's going on in this world.

Thank you!

Pasha

Weird, years ago when I registered a domain hosted by Hypermart, the site was up the next day after I signed up! With the fully qualified domain of course. Perhaps your email slipped away or something. I suggest you email Hypermar't domain concerning staff.

Ermm, did you resubmit an application of the domain again? Because that can cause delays. Just my opinion.

No, I didn't resubmit application.
I wrote an email to HyperMart about my problem about two-three weeks ago; and still haven't got any replies.

At first I thought that InterNIC might be too busy registering other domain, and they will get back to me some time next day; but that "next day" never came. Frown

Go to the Internic web site and look up the domain you think you registered using their WHOIS script. If it has been registered, it will show who the contacts are for it.

If you don't want to go to Internic's web site for it, just point your browser to
http://www.orphanage.com/products/whois.shtml and do it from my site.

I hope this helps.

I registered a few domains last month, and
it went overnight with the InterNIC. Changes

Bobsie,

Nice script...I was wondering if you know of a way to modify the script to allow different types of domains, such as "www.name.cc.az.us", or "www.myserver.ie".

Or if you know of any sites where you can check unique and non-standard (not .com, .org, or .net), I would greatly appreciate it.

Internic (or Network Solutions) does not allow non-standard domain look-ups. I have had problems finding a registration site that allows you to look up these non-standard types of domains.

Eliot,

Sorry for the delay in replying to this. I was very busy in the last week or so again.

Anyway, you may want to look at the Internet : Domain Registration of my Good Stuff Lists site located at goodstuff.orphanage.com/Internet/Domain_Registration/index.html It has some links to various different Domain Registrars and WHOIS queries.

You might want to try looking at idirect.tucows.com/dns95.html for a list of DNS utilities (both freeware and shareware) that you could personally use. I recommend Cyberkit.

By the way, that WHOIS script I use on my web site is another BigNoseBird.com script that is free for use by anyone and can be modified by anyone. See http://www.bignosebird.com/carchive/whois.shtml . They also have a script that combines WHOIS with ping, finger, and traceroute.

I hope this helps.

Eliot,

Your question about allowing other type of domain lookups had me curions, so I went and modified my whois2.cgi script to include that capability. It was a minor change. Take a new look at my form on http://www.orphanage.com/products/whois.shtml

Thanks, Bobsie. That's what I was looking for. The main reason I was asking is that our domain (www.coco.cc.az.us) originally was "owned" and housed by a local ISP.

The ISP will not tell us if they made the change with I guess US Domain Registration Services. I was looking for a way to see if there was a service available that could tell us who owns the domain.

Thanks for your help. I appreciate it.

Smile

I found this script yesterday, while looking for something else:

Alien Domains

http://www.cgi.tj/

it might be what you are looking for.

Thanks pugdog, I downloaded that script and am going to take a good look at it after I get some sleep. It looks interesting at first glance.
