Ok, I am pretty new to the htaccess bit. But I do have a few questions. I always see examples with nev/dull or something, and I dont know what that means. I set up an htaccess file and an htpasswd file and a htgroup file, but now when i try to access any page in that directory i type in my password and user name, but it denies my entry. What can i do?

I think it would be best if you read up on basic htaccess authorization, because trying to explain it here would just be too messy. BigNoseBird has a pretty good tutorial:
