I just installed Apache/Perl on win98 at work. Worked like a champ. I came home to try, did the same things.. and blammo, I'm pulling my HAIR out.. sheesh.

When I try to http://loaclhost or http://127.0.0.1 .. I get..


Browser Error

Your Browser sent a malformed request


I get this in NS, IE and anything else..

Anyone got a clue? I'm dying here

Not my day, I guess.

I searched for the answer for 2 hours, posted for help, and figured it out no sooner than I hit POST.. Sheesh.

For reference, something ( still haven't found what ) is watching PORT 80 ( webserver default port ) .. So I had to change the config of Apache to use 85 ( you can use anything, as long as its not in use )..

It makes my url even uglier, but it works. ( url would be http://localhost:85 .. Eww

Now I'm going to be a mad scripting genius ( the kind that makes tons of broken , useless crud )

You should remove Microsoft Personal Webserver from w98, otherwise it takes up port 80. Hope that helps.
