No, I mean, why not just use the built in suEXEC that Apache comes with?

Aah yes that would be fine but migrating to that is bit of a nightmare. Not many php things running ... just a classifieds (which we would love to migrate to glinks, gallery and few others --- but none of those phpBB or php message boards, guestbooks etc which have seen many servers compromised)

Had a dig at suPHP it went all fine but couldn't get the db related stuff to work so switched back to default.
