Using Word Processor to use a database and print out receipts using a template
Hi All

Is there a way to create a template in a word processor, pull in a customer database, and then have the word processor grab each record from that db, apply that record to the template, and then print out the final document?

Here's what I mean. I want to create a sales receipt template in a word processing program (OpenOffice.org). This template would include field names to later be replaced by the values from the db:

Dear %name%

Thank you for your order - %order_number%

Then, I would hit the Print button, and then the program would print out all the forms for all records in the db.

I've seen this same kind of functionality in label-printing programs. So, I figure that there's got to be a way to do it with home-made forms.

Is this do-able?

Many thanks
