Uninstalling MS Messenger - when not in Add/Remove
Hi All

Installed MSN Messenger some time ago, but not using it now. Tried to uninstall by going into Add/Remove, but the dang thing isn't there.

Does anyone know how to uninstall MSN Messenger from XP?

Many thanks :)

Ensure you are confusing Windows Messenger with MSN Messenger - two different animals. Have a look here:

Hey Dan Smile

Yeah, I'm sure. I figured out how to disable Windows Messenger ages ago. You can just turn off the service in the management area.

What's weird with this MSN Messenger is that this was originally listed in Add/Remove. So, I uninstalled it (at least I thought so), then rebooted, etc., but the dang thing still runs, but now it's not in Add/Remove....wha?

That's where I am at this point.

Cheers Smile

To remove Windows Messenger I use:

RunDll32 advpack.dll,LaunchINFSection %windir%INFmsmsgs.inf,BLC.Remove
