I've just installed courier-imap (from source)...

Everything went smoothly and I decided to use authmysql to handle authentication so I've gone through the config files and set everything up....then I fired up courier and did ps aux and got:

Now....Im guessing it shouldn't be running under root first of all?....or is that ok?

Anyway the problem Im having is that now I need to start the bundled pop3 server and when I do it just exists with:

AUTHFAILURE

....ARGH......no more helpful info!!!

Ok a bit of progress:

/usr/lib/courier-imap/libexec/pop3d.rc start

added this to the running processes:

root 28779 1.0 0.0 1580 648 ? S 19:44 0:00 /usr/lib/courier-imap/libexec/couriertcpd -address=0 -stderrlogger=/u

....now I can connect to the pop3 server but get:

Your server has unexpectedly terminated the connection. Possible causes for this include server problems, network problems, or a long period of inactivity. Account: 'bla', Server: 'bla', Protocol: POP3, Port: 110, Secure(SSL): No, Error Number: 0x800CCC0F

I am stuck too all of a sudden.

Sqwebmail with courier is giving authdaemon: permission denied error and all login is failing. Can u offer any help?
