Hi All

Does anyone know of a good web-based instant messaging system?

We would prefer setting up a system on our site for some PMs rather than using ICQ.

Maybe theres a gap in the market - I cant see anything at hoscripts that looks this specific :)

Use Jabber.

We now use it internally in the office to keep track of each other between two buildings. Very useful.

We've setup our own internal Jabber server so we can customize everything and there are clients for it for Unix, Mac and PC platforms. Even a few written in Perl.

I did find Jabber, but I'm not sure if that's something that I can set up for a simple virtual hosting account. However, I did find a PostNuke module - jacobuddy - that might work. I'm not sure yet whether it's compatible with the latest PN.

The Jabber thing looks really interesting. Total control of an in-house IM system....neat!

In my case, as usual, I forgot to mention that I'm looking for a system that can work in Linux. The Jinny system looks like a windows-based script.
