Mem Free
The Free Mem continuously keeps on decreasing until almost 95% of available is shown as uesd and then it keeps on cycling back and forth between 90 and 95%. Is this OK?

The server is not abusy one and not many sites are hosted yes it has GM there....

I had to reboot the server 2 days back as i was facing problem while activating GM account. The current status is as shown:

5:21am up 2 days, 30 min, 1 user, load average: 0.16, 0.10, 0.07
197 processes: 196 sleeping, 1 running, 0 zombie, 0 stopped
CPU0 states: 0.5% user, 3.2% system, 0.0% nice, 95.3% idle
CPU1 states: 0.2% user, 1.2% system, 0.0% nice, 98.0% idle
Mem: 2059212K av, 969700K used, 1089512K free, 48K shrd, 41200K buff
Swap: 2056240K av, 0K used, 2056240K free 534556K cached

The reboot was afer 55 days though the tomcat and httpd were restarted in between.

Thnx

It looks like you have 1GB free mem which is fine. If you have lots of cached memory then that's ok.

But the free mem decreases gradually with passage of days and it goes to as low as 30 MB and that's the time when activating accounts on GM gives error. I hope that this stage shall come in another 40 days or so.

Hi,

Having free close to 0 is perfectly normal. Linux caches disk access (the amount shown in cached), and releases it back to the o/s when an app needs it.

Are you running under mod_perl?

Cheers,

Alex
